Hype School Events

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how By Walt LLC, d.b.a. Hype School ("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information through Hype School Events (the "Service"), our events platform at events.hypeschool.dev.

Information We Collect

Information you provide. When you register for an event, we collect your name, email address, and a photo. When you sign in by email, we send a one-time code or link to your email address.

Google Sign-In. If you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier with us. We use that information only to create and sign you in to your account on the Service, and we store it as your profile in the same way as details you type in yourself. We request only the basic "email" and "profile" permissions — we cannot read your Gmail, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data. We do not share information received from Google Sign-In with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising. You can disconnect the Service from your Google account at any time via your Google account permissions, and you can request deletion of your account at any time (see Contact, below).

Information collected automatically. We collect standard technical information (IP address, browser type, device information) needed to operate the Service.

Advertising and analytics. Some event pages include third-party tracking pixels (Meta, Google, and/or LinkedIn) configured by that event's host, used to measure the performance of that event's marketing. These tools may collect data about your visit and, if you register, that you completed that action, per each provider's own privacy policy. We don't control what these third parties do with data they collect — see their respective privacy policies for details.

Product analytics. We use Google Analytics across the Service to understand which pages people visit and how they move through the site. This is aggregate usage measurement, not advertising: we use it to improve the Service, and we don't use it to target ads. We don't record playbacks of your visit.

How We Use Information

We use your information to:

  • Register you for events and manage your enrollment
  • Send you emails related to events you've joined (reminders, updates, and messages from the event host)
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Measure the effectiveness of event marketing, where an event's host has enabled tracking pixels

How We Share Information

We share information with:

  • Event hosts, who can see your name, email, and photo for events you register for, and can send you emails
  • Service providers that help us operate the Service: Cloudflare (hosting and storage) and Resend (email delivery)
  • Advertising platforms (Meta, Google, LinkedIn), only for events where the host has configured tracking, and only in the form of standard pixel and conversion events. This is separate from Google Sign-In: information we receive from Google Sign-In is never shared with advertising platforms.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account exists or as needed to provide the Service. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Contact, below).

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and — if you use Google Sign-In — a short-lived cookie that lasts ten minutes and exists only to complete that sign-in securely.

Google Analytics sets its own cookies on this site to distinguish one visit from another. These are analytics cookies, not advertising cookies — we don't use first-party cookies to target ads.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the effective date above when we do.
